TODA ME VIDA OS AMÉ
Love songs of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance
Friday, February 15, 7:00 p.m.
“Toda mi vida os amé” (I loved you all my life) is a collection of songs that sing to love. In this repertoire there are songs of longing, of wounded love, and also songs of joy that have travelled through the centuries and have been passed from generation to generation. They come from multicultural and multiethnic medieval Europe, and offer to our ears an extremely rich and surprising melodic dimension, together with beautiful and moving lyrics.
“Toda mi vida os amé” brings together the personal interpretations of three brilliant performers whose work spans different genres, exploring this beautiful repertoire in acoustic, minimalist versions. Only voice, guitar and violin.
With 15 albums in her discography, Latin Grammy winner Mexican singer Jaramar, has explored a song repertoire that goes from medieval anonymous music to her own compositions; raw materials that have enabled her to dig into her obsessions: life, passion, love, death, shaping and transforming the original songs like clay. The guiding threads for this: her permanent desire for sound exploration, and of course her voice, always open to new colours and textures.
Jaramar has taken her music to the most important Mexican stages and festivals. She has also toured the World and performed in the United States, Canada, Ecuador, Portugal, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and India.
